Knäckebröd Pizza, the perfect fast food!

Have you tried making knäckebröd pizza? So simple and so good! This is fast food at its best. A knäckebröd pizza saturates, is healthier than a regular pizza and is made in no time. There is no hassle with any pizza dough that needs to be done. The crispbread is simply a ready-made pizza base that becomes soft and nice after being baked, just like a regular pizza. You can top a pizza with just about anything, look into the fridge, and you will find lots of good stuff that you can put on your pizza. Knäckebröd pizza is the perfect option to make something good from your saved food leftovers and thus reduce food waste.

The hardest thing about making a knäckebröd pizza is the choice you have to make. Should it be one with tomato sauce or a pizza Bianco? A pizza Bianco is a pizza without tomato sauce. Then you can advantageously use crème fraiche with or without seasoning but not some light variety or some cream cheese such as a creamy Philadelphia or Mascarpone.

Here are three simple knäckebröd pizzas that you can easily make with a large round knäckebröd as a base of the pizza.

Knäckebröd pizza with taco topping

Have you eaten tacos and still have taco leftovers? Perfect, broad taco sauce on a large round knäckebröd, put on your taco leftovers and top with grated cheese. Bake in the middle of the oven, 200 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Top with a bit of green, e.g. salad, arugula or spinach leaves. Eat and enjoy!

A little more luxurious knäckebröd pizza with a topping of roes and Västerbotten cheese

Stir together the cheese cream and spread an even layer on a large round knäckebröd. Drizzle over a little olive oil, salt and pepper—Bake in the middle of the oven, 200 degrees for about  10  min.

Take out the pizza and top with roes, red onion, dill, crème fraiche, capers and grated cheese. Finally, grate over a bit of lemon zest.

Here's how to make the cheese crème:

  • 2 1⁄2 dl crème fraiche or Mascarpone
  •  2 dl grated Västerbotten cheese or Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Topping:

  • 150 g roes (Red Lumpfish Caviar is also delicate)
  • 1 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 dl dill
  • 1 dl crème fraiche
  • 1 dl grated Västerbotten cheese or Parmesan cheese
  • About 1⁄2 lemons, finely grated zest
  • 4 tbsp capers

Knäckebröd Pizza Bianco with onion, ham and leaf spin

Here's what you need in the form of ingredients:

  • 1 dl crème fraiche
  • A good smoked ham
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 30g fresh leaf spin
  • 1/2 finely chopped garlic clove
  • 60g mozzarella
  • 1 dl coarsely grated flavorful hard cheese
  • Flake salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Butter or oil to fry in

Shred the onion and fry it softly in a frying pan with butter or oil, a pinch of sugar and a little salt. Make sure it will not burn, and it should be just caramelized. Pick up the onion and set it aside.

Then fry the spinach leaves in the frying pan. Once softened, add the finely chopped garlic and let it sauté for a while. Just remember not to burn the garlic—season with salt and pepper.

Spread crème fraiche on a large round knäckebröd.

Spread the onion and spinach over the pizza.

Put on the smoked ham divided into slightly smaller pieces.

Season with a bit of salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Last, put on mozzarella broken into smaller pieces and grated cheese.

Bake in the middle of the oven, 200 degrees for 10  - 12minutes.
